“the bloated”

this tourist town by the river

weekends the bloated stroll

crablike and unhurried

on their way to the feeding places

antiques and galleries

reasons to drive or be driven

the hour or so up from New York

particular breed the bloated

weekends with hair down business casual

bellies in waves through pedestrian traffic

hands full of bags of trinkets

destined eventually to adorn

rooms in the walled village

half hour up from city proper

suburban New York

monday refreshed the bloated

spill out of air-conditioned trains

pass servants & occasional  homeless

towards elevators and corner offices

other members of the leisure class

five more days the weekend

friends and drinks and culture

next weekend perhaps a visit

some other tourist town.
